Pumpkin carving

We invited some friends over to carve pumpkins this year.

R was helping C with his, and I was helping V with his.

Which meant that V picked out an intricate design and then ran off with his friend and did this while I got to carve his pumpkin:

C decided he wanted to help me.

He wanted to carve it all by himself, which made things interesting.

We did end up with these:

C was fascinated with the "Pumpkin lights". Even though things didn't turn out as planned, we all had fun.

Now I just have to figure out how to stop the jack-o-lanterns from molding within 3 days. Darn humidity.

Happy Birthday C

Since C loves animals so much, we got him a membership at the zoo, so that we could hang out there more often.

V had the day off from school so we went to the zoo for some birthday fun. Unfortunately, I locked my keys in the car and then it started raining, so it was a short trip. The boys had fun though.

The zoo was decorated for Halloween which made it fun.

C got a simple cake this year: a doggy cake.

We had an indoor picnic for dinner and watched a movie.

Then we sang happy birthday and blew out candles. (He's blowing right now, just looking at this picture).

Opened some presents:

Played with his new toys:

And ate lots of cake and ice cream. We had a fun day.

Where did we get him?

Fun at Home Depot

The Home Depot does a kids workshop every month where they have a fun project to build. V has so much fun since he gets to use real hammers and nails. C spends most of his time banging random things with a hammer.

October was fire safety month, so the kids got to build a firehouse bank. They got fireman hats and got to look at a real fire engine.

Smokey the Bear was also there. They took an actual Polaroid of us. V thought it was cool to watch the picture slowly appear.

C was deathly afraid of Smokey. He kept me between him and the bear and eyed him wearily the whole time. The funny thing is that this picture is one of his favorites. He keeps showing it to me saying, "Bear, hat, soft".

Bribery picture

You have to have ones like this to show the future girlfriends, right?

August zoo trip

C and I went to the zoo with our playgroup in August. It was a bit strange as this was the first time we didn't take V. C missed his brother but loved the zoo. He really loves animals.

"Horsey zebras"

C could just sit there and watch the animals forever. He got a little frustrated when we kept moving along with the rest of the group.

His favorite - "Giraps"

We spent a lot of time in the butterfly enclosure.

"Fly"
"Tops" (As in triceratops. He doesn't believe me that it's a rhino.)

"Monkney."

V was pretty excited about this...
