Why it's easy to get lost in Birmingham

V's first talent show

V participated in his class performance at his school's talent show. He had a lot of fun practicing with his friends and getting ready. The routine was really simple: they ran across the stage to give high fives then met in middle. They each took turns doing a dance solo and then struck a pose. V was the line leader and had to listen to the music to start everyone off at the correct time, and he did a great job. It was fun watching them practice because their dance routines changed every time they practiced and their final poses always resembled a poster for a martial arts movie.

A conversation with V

"Mom, pirates lived a long time ago."

"Yes."

"Did they fight dinosaurs?"

"No. The dinosaurs were already gone before there were pirates."

"But they both lived a long time ago."

Homewood Christmas Parade

The Homewood Christmas parade happened to coincide with the day it decided to snow. So yes, it does snow in Alabama, and yes, we were very cold.


The kids were excited to see the parade and were ready with their candy bags. V decided to wear two hats with his hoodie. He thought it was hilarious and kept pointing it out.


C soon gave up on his goody bag and opted for mittens.


C's favorite part of the parade. He lit up when he saw the dogs, "Woof, woof."


V enjoyed picking up the candy, and boy there was a lot of it. I think they both got more candy that day than they did on Halloween. Seriously.


Poor C almost froze to death. He had on warm clothes, a coat, hat and mittens, yet he spent most of his time shaking. We tried to hold him to keep him warm, but it didn't seem to help. We gave him this piece of candy to eat, but apparently he was too cold to chew. He stayed like this with candy drool coming out of his mouth until we decided to remove it.

And of course, Santa riding in a fire truck. Even Santa was cold, he kept rubbing his hands together to warm them up.

Thanksgiving

I sent R out with the boys on Thanksgiving morning so that I could get some baking finished. They decided to ride bikes. V did really well. C is still learning how to use the pedals. They had a lot of fun.



We had a special visitor for Thanksgiving. Uncle T came and spent the holiday with us. We really enjoyed having him around. He and R played a lot of X box and we went out for some Southern BBQ. It was nice to be able to relax and spend time with family.

End of Soccer Season

On a cold November evening, soccer season finally ended. I know that sounds bad, but it had been a long and difficult season due to bad weather and field logistics.

We all had fun though, especially V, which is the important part. V had a great season. He really stepped forward this time and went for the ball. It was great to see him get into the game.


V was so proud of his metal.


He wore both of his soccer medals for the next week. They are still hanging on his bed where he can put them back on from time to time.


Apparently the last game wore him out so much that he fell out of bed and didn't even notice:
