Nashville's country music half marathon

We headed up to Nashville last weekend so that R could run in the 1/2 marathon. We rented a hotel and stayed the night so that we could all cheer Daddy on.

Here he is a mile 2.

The kids and I walked around Nashville to get to the different parts of the race. It was a really pretty city.

Here he is at mile 11. Almost done! At this point of the race, people were going a bit slower. V asked if this was a walking race.

The State Capitol.

C fell asleep for the last mile.

I took this picture for Matt. Maybe he'll get his own plaque someday.

The Cumberland river:

V asked if this was a house boat:

All finished! We are so proud of you.

I didn't realize the R and V were so color coordinated until I posted this picture. Aren't they cute?

More soccer

V is really enjoying his soccer games. It is fun seeing him get better every week.

He is approaching the ball more aggressively.

He even dribbled the ball down the field.

He had a definite assist.

Though with so many feet, we aren't really sure who really made the goal. I just feel bad for the kid who ended up in the goal.

Planting flowers

I had V help me plant some flowers in our window boxes. Of course he had a shovel for just such an occasion.

It took awhile for him to fill the box with dirt, but he had fun.

The finished product:

It wasn't my cleanest idea, but it's always better with a little dirt, right?

C helped by sticking tiny pieces of tissue paper into the door track. Doesn't he look a bit guilty?

Easter egg hunt

Grandma S put together an extensive Easter egg hunt for the boys, which they loved.

C got a bit of a head start as Uncle N sneaked him out another door, though he still had a hard time keeping up with V. When the eggs were gone, he started picking up rocks, it was all the same to him, until he found out they had candy inside.

Do you think they got enough eggs?

Grandma also had some eggs with numbers that corresponded to a prize. C really liked the stickers and was entertained by sticking them all over himself.

Dying eggs

V dyed eggs with Grandma G once again. (He actually got to do it twice, as Grandma had to accommodate all the grandkids).

I think they all turned out pretty and bright this year. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any home with us, so they were donated to Uncle S. Though Uncle S couldn't eat any of V's favorites until we were gone.

C missed out this year as he slept through the first egg dying session, and wasn't too interested in the second. Oh well, we tried.

Fun with cousins

We were able to make a trip to Utah the first part of April. V was so excited for the trip that he kept bringing up random thoughts about it. While we were driving in the car he said, "Mom, when I'm in Utah Grandma gives me ice cream in a cone. You just put it in a bowl. I like cones better." He also had what he was going to play with and whom he would play it with all planned out. Needless to say, he was very happy to play with all his cousins. C had a blast too, it was fun seeing him jumping right in with all the big kids.

Spring in Birmingham

We decided to visit the Birmingham botanical gardens in between sessions of General Conference. The day was nice and cool, and the kids enjoyed walking outside. It was great to see all the spring flowers and blossoms in bloom.
