Go Quicksand Monsters!

It's soccer time again. V has been so excited and is loving every minute.

R is coaching the team this time, so the whole family is involved. He says it's like herding cats, so he's fairly exhausted by the time it's over.

I can see that one season can make a big difference. V jumped right in this time and fought for the ball.

There's a lot of standing there with his shirt up around his neck too. It's all part of the strategy.

So I think this picture is hilarious. You can just hear the girl saying, "Stay back, it's my ball!"

C had fun too. Our field is right by the playground, so that is where he spent most of his time.

Everything was wet, so he was pretty soaked my the end of the night.

V scored 1 goal his first game, and 4 goals last night. Here he is scoring one of them.

Oh, so proud!

The team we played last night had a lot of younger players on the team, so we let them play 4 on 3 to even things up. By the end of the game, I think it was 3 vs. 7.

V managed to score a goal, even with the three goalies.

In the words of V - "Hey Mom, we keep winning the whole time!"

Humility

Conversation with V on the way to school:

"Mom, I think C really likes me."

"Of course he does. Your his big brother so he tries to be just like you."

"And I'm so cool, and so strong."

"!"

"And so fast."

He's also really loving school. I asked him if he liked his teacher. He said, "Yeah, but I like all my teachers though." I take that as a good sign.

Here's part of his first homework assignment, I thought it was cute:

Just one of those days...

I was checking my email this morning when I heard some interesting noises in the kitchen. This is what I found:

Yes, this is the cereal that I had already put away after breakfast. High on the counter top. Now poured entirely into one bowl. At least it was a big bowl. I guess he was still hungry.

"Cracker!" (You try to tell him it's not a cracker. He's very stubborn about these things.)

I had fixed peanut butter and honey on toast for lunch. I had C all set up to eat and hurried to get some laundry done. I few minutes later, C comes out of the kitchen saying, "Dirty. Dirty." He was covered in honey.

I guess he wanted more, and decided to get it himself. Apparently nothing is out of his reach. I had lids screwed on and bread twisty tied shut.

Mmm... let's dig the bread out of the honey.

I found the knife on the floor, also covered in honey. It's like a crime scene.

I didn't take pictures after he got into my sewing box to play with sewing machine needles and thread. I put him to bed instead. Almost two year-olds are fun.

Payette rafting trip

We had a lot of fun at our annual river rafting trip. We spent a few days in good ol' Crouch, Idaho and rafted down the Payette.

The boys enjoyed being around their grandparents, aunt and uncles. V even got to throw rocks into the river, which made the trip worth it.

I stayed behind on this trip and decided to get some action pictures. It's interesting to see the rapids from up high. They don't look like much, until the boats disappear.

Here are some pics from the rapid GLOYF (go left or your fired). Apparently no one went left as there were three swimmers and one lost paddle. R says it wasn't his fault. He claims he went left.

This picture makes me laugh. Everyone has been pushed to the front of the boat and you can see the person who lost her paddle reaching into the void.

M got some air.

And he lost a paddler.

Even the cat boats lost people:

gone.

There were no more swimmers the rest of the trip. Here are some fun pictures:

The boys being very good, sitting on the side of the river while I took some pics:

Seeing these pictures makes me want to go again. I'm already looking forward to next year!
